Day 1: Lidingö-Lyngby (Stockholm-Copenhagen)

We left at 8 sharp (even some minutes early!). We had the longest day ahead, almost 800 km. We set off on Sunday to avoid traffic around Stockholm and Denmark.

We did the first stretch until Stavsjö, a name that to us said nothing but where we randomly stopped at the perfect location: https://stavsjokrog.se/. The lovely boutique https://www.hemmaistavsjo.se/ was exactly what I needed to get the last presents from Sweden! In the meantime Jay, Sebastian and Frico went to the forest for a nice hike.

Because this first stop took a bit longer than expected (my fault), we then stopped only briefly two more times to have lunch and to take a walk, so Frico could still enjoy some time outdoors in daylight. The road was clear and pleasant, even towards Malmö and on the Öresundsbron (the bridge that connects Sweden to Denmark).

In Lyngby, near Copenhagen, we met one of Jay´s Luxembourg Hash friends, Liss, who moved back to Denmark after a great career and upon starting her retirement.

Liss was amazing: she prepared her famous crispy pork with potatoes and cabbage, and left us her flat for the night while she stayed at her son´s (who also came to dinner). She also got presents for Sebastian, setting the bar way too high for the next few days to come! What an amazing fun time we had.

We had plans to see the Tivoli Gardens with Liss, but we backed out to allow a better time for Frico. Dogs are not allowed in the Tivoli Gardens, and generally in many indoor places in Scandinavia, so we knew it was going to be best to either divide the team (one adult with Sebastian, one adult with Frico) or do some dog-friendly activity. In the end we had a lovely time doing walks & play outdoors and then we went to a nice restaurant together.
